Not sure how to feel about this? inspired that they would take the risk of posting this through the glitch, or depressed at what they express in their frustration. Both.
From Physorg:
On Sunday,?Google+ appeared to be available in China on some people?s mobile devices?but not on fixed computers ? a fact confirmed by some netizens on Obama?s page.
Others in China, however, were still unable to access the site, which remained blocked on their mobiles along with Facebook,?Twitter?and YouTube.
Some netizens urged Obama to help free activists such as blind lawyer Chen Guangcheng, who is currently under?house arrest, or Liu Xiaobo, the jailedNobel Peace Prize?winner.
?
?Many people don?t understand the meaning why all Chinese are coming here. We envy American people their democracy and freedom!? one netizen said in English under Obama?s latest posting about his campaign?s bumper stickers.
The comments centre on freedom of expression and human rights, as well as more mundane issues such as how to get US green cards.
?We are not barbaric people, we are just suppressed,? one netizen wrote, while others called on the US president to ?come and liberate China?.
Our country certainly has some serious problems, but we?re amazingly lucky to be living here, in this country, at this point in history.

One from the remarkable phenomenons noticed for the duration of recent several years includes usage of a tattoo for various reasons. For example, if you are thinking about a tattoo due to spiritual symbolism, you?ll be able to choose for tattoo crosses. Also, you are going to discover bible tattoo styles that can have strong spiritual theme. Likewise, use of animal fox tattoo is thought to be age-old. There was a purpose why an increasing number of folks resorted to having this particular tattoo. It is widely said, by etching a picture of the distinct animal in your epidermis, you?ll be able to increase chances of getting people traits imbibed into your personality. As a result, you are able to witness other animal tattoo such as serpents, eagles, lions, tigers, falcons and foxes, etc. are in excellent demand.
Worldwide study researchers believe, though a fox just isn?t looked upon as overtly physically effective animal, still this was one of the most sought-after symbols which were in rampant use. Actually, a fox is acknowledged to get a cunning and clever animal. History has it, ancient men and tribal males usually regarded a fox endowed with larger quality of intelligence.
Between common animal tattoos fox, it will incorporate, Bat tattoos, Bear tattoos, Buffalo Tattoos/Bison tattoos, Elephant tattoos, Horse tattoos, Lion tattoos (incorporates Puma, Cougar, Mountain Lion), Cat tattoos (domestic), Deer tattoos, Canine tattoos, (domestic), Leopard tattoos (contains Panther, Cheetah, Jaguar,) Monkey tattoos, Tiger tattoos, Wolf tattoos (contains Coyote, Fox), and many others.
Have you ever before provided it a shut thought why marketing and advertising authorities just take aid of images of animal to advertise their goods like perfumes, cologne, clothes, and so on? The logic behind this practice is very simple to grasp. Use of these images will imply, it could deliver out the animal in you! In the event you delve deeper into heritage records, you are going to arrive to understand, use of animal photos, styles, stories, and so forth. ended up in great use. For example, there is reference of Egyptian gods producing utilization of head of the jackal or body of the lion. Once more, you can find some European stories that talk about werewolves and vampires.
It is popularly considered, having animal tattoo styles assists in demonstrating our connections to different kinds of spirits of the good beasts that basically defines our personalities. This in fact aids in symbolizing our instincts and innate character.

At this time, wireless networks are able to brake just one bike, but in the future, the technical elements will be further developed to regulate entire trains as they travel over the lines. In view of that fact, computer scientists at Saarland University are designing mathematical calculations to check such systems automatically. The scientists will present their results at stand F34 in hall 26 at the computer fair Cebit. The trade show takes place in Hanover, Germany from March 6 to 10.
Professor Holger Hermanns, who holds the chair of Dependable Systems and Software, and who developed the wireless bicycle brake together with his group, explains: "Wireless networks are never a fail-safe method. That's a fact that's based on a technological background." Nonetheless, the trend is to set up wireless systems that, like a simple bicycle brake, have to function all the time. "In the field of the future European Train Service, for example, concrete plans already exist," Hermanns reports. Furthermore, he says that train and airplane experiments are far too sophisticated, and could even endanger the life of human beings in case of malfunction.
Therefore, the Saarland computer scientist's mathematical methods should now verify the correct function and interaction of the components automatically. "The wireless bicycle brake gives us the necessary playground to optimize these methods for operation in much more complex systems," Hermanns adds. Therefore, his research group examines the brake prototype with algorithms that normally are used in control systems for aircraft or chemical factories. As a result, they found out that the brake works with 99.9999999999997 percent reliability. "This implies that out of a trillion braking attempts, we have three failures," Hermanns explains and concludes: "That is not perfect, but acceptable."
To brake with the wireless brake, a cyclist needs only clench the rubber grip on the right handle. The more tightly the grip is clenched, the harder the disk brake on the front wheel works. It seems as if a ghost hand is in play, but a combination of several electronic components enables the braking. Integrated in the rubber grip is a pressure sensor, which activates a sender if a specified pressure threshold is crossed. The sender is integrated in a blue plastic box which is the size of a cigarette packet and is attached to the handlebar. Its radio signals are sent to a receiver attached at the end of the bicycle's fork. The receiver forwards the signal to an actuator, transforming the radio signal into the mechanical power by which the disk brake is activated. The electrical energy is supplied by a battery, which is also attached to the bicycle's fork. To enhance reliability, there are additional senders attached to the bicycle. These repeatedly send the same signal.
Its current configuration enables the cruiser bike to brake within 250 milliseconds. This means that at a speed of 30 kilometers per hour, the cyclist has to react two meters before reaching the dangerous situation. But the Saarland University computer scientists are not satisfied with just this functionality. "It is not difficult to integrate an anti-lock braking system and traction control. That takes only a few adjustments," Hermanns explains.
Researching the wireless bicycle brake was funded within the special research field "Automatic Verification and Analysis of Complex Systems (AVACS)" by the German Research Foundation. Besides Holger Hermanns, several researchers from Saarland University are involved. These are Professors Sebastian Hack, Markus Blser, Reinhard Wilhelm, Jan Reineke, Bernd Finkbeiner and Verena Wolf. Professor Kurt Mehlhorn and Christoph Weidenbach of the Max-Planck-Institute for Informatics in Saarbrcken are involved in the project, too. In 2011, the Research Foundation Group approved about 8.7 million euro, and about 3.5 million inure to the benefit of the Saarland research work. Since 2004, the special research group has been sponsored with approximately 26 million euros, and 9.5 million went to the computer scientists at Saarland University.

The Academy seems to have recognized that it's better off with Sacha Baron Cohen at the Oscars than without him.
Days after informing the ribald comic actor that his plans for roaming the red carpet as his character from "The Dictator" would not be a good idea, a producer of the show is saying Cohen is now welcome to use Hollywood's biggest night to plug his movie, to be released May 11.
Exclusive photos from THR: Oscars 2012: Backstage aas teh show comes to life
"We're thrilled to have him and he'll be on the red carpet dressed as 'The Dictator,' " Brian Grazer told "Extra."
An Academy spokesperson said she had not heard about the plans for Cohen, but if the welcome mat stays unfurled, Cohen will have succeeded in pulling off one of the more brazen publicity stunts in recent Hollywood history. The Oscars, viewed by hundreds of millions of people worldwide, will give Cohen and "The Dictator" a huge promotional platform.
Since THR first revealed Tuesday afternoon that Cohen planned to attend the show in character, the actor and Paramount -- which is releasing both "Dictator" and Cohen's "Hugo," which is nominated for best picture -- have gone into overdrive to capitalize on the publicity opportunity.
Earlier Friday, Cohen issued a video message in character promising to punish the "Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Zionists" if it did not issue him tickets to the show by Sunday. (In reality, Cohen's tickets were never pulled, and he was never "banned" from the Oscars, as some outlets reported.)
Video from THR: Brad Pitt answers 4 probing questions
But the Academy was initially not supportive of Cohen's plans, citing fears that he might upstage some of the nominees and other Hollywood dignitaries that attend the annual celebration of the year in movies.
Now, thanks to the huge press attention the flap/stunt has generated, the Academy apparently has recognized that audiences might tune in just to see what Cohen will do, and the possible jump in ratings is worth the risk of Cohen doing something crass or embarrassing.?

November 2009 6:45 am.
I am now living with a foster family have really got a cunt like them, and in recent years I have not done much my foster parents are mad at me because I had gotten lower figure of 7.8 in place of a 8.1 me they can really get typhoid. they also have another almost never have time. Not that I still really do hear but the principle. (My foster mother) Nicollete is 2 weeks in Paris and my dad goes on business trip and No Way I would stay home just what a horse shit is. they had sent me to an expensive school. And then of course I happily do at least one first day was today. I am very nervous about my (foster father) Father ? says I must hurry and that I be stuff had to take me answers that I got there and took some things a pocket knife, a pack of cookies and a hug I did not know how long it went I actually hoped to take as long as possible because this god parents gave me terrible things said. Now back because they figure typhoid! For example, I am a failure and even better in the accident could have being or I'll have had to take the example of my cousin that sometime while Vincent had his car on fire and stabbed so you'll never guess who the debt is not got. I always feel terrible cunt, once in the car my father says
that we have no time for dawdling I throw the door slammed, I do not answer all the way and stare out the window once we arrived there was a lady waiting for us. She looks at me with a sweet face and laughs, I give her A hand and imagine the lady, her name is Yvonne She is 26 years old, has blond hair. really typical stagere, Vincent asks Yvonne, I assume that everything is settled? Mrs. says the ofcourse, you do not look? My father's father says quickly, no! I go directly to one house for one business trip flight gets in his car and drive away. I (who no longer look up to) tell the lady that does it for weeks. To which the lady answers, you need something done?, Yes I had a 7.8 instead of a 8.1 in mathematics. the lady looks at me a bit surprised and says so much is yet not? I reply that I'm glad I'm off for a while I see this
if a temporary liberty as any negative energy. Yvonne asks if I want a cup of tea when I answer s good, and we walk towards a large building that looks like an old college is big and boring. Yvonne put a bowl of tea. It is a wonderfully delicious sweet narwhal I enjoyed every drop (literally) once we had our tea and I had thanked her again. She began to give me a tour about the room and told me that I would also m'en vmbo off and would stay here at least 3 months for me this is heaven, 3 months without my cunt (foster) parents told me they also that there are many girls and boys were and once we walked we came head against it and they I am Ms Claudia. Your parents will stay away longer (I knew they were glad they were rid of me but I think of their) I did a little dance joys and awesome they finally got that shit off. Claudia said, excuse me ..! Well nice to hear I'll let you now about to Yvonne. and we walk on, after a while we walk in a room with all rooms for four people about 12 pieces Yvonne says here's another area you have room 42 B 3. you have everything you need I nod yes and Yvonne walks away I saw three girls she introduced herself. Hi I'm Michelle and I am 16 years old, set up for a second it is a beautiful little girl with black hair and says, hello, Charlie and I am 17 years old, then the last step forward and tells me she Viewing you
there may be honest you're welcome here I am the most popular girl in school (the type with a terrible bad attitude) and I recommend you listen to me understand, Why do you talk so to me? Joyce answers ... but the only answer what response they get is hm .. I respond there but no further, and say I'm Joyce'm 16 years old and come from Groningen, my goal here is that I vmbo finish it, get to know people and learn so much. may I still have your name? Yes it will be Saskia and I am starting to hate you to get you know?!. (Joyce thinks to himself what a strange man). Then they called and they turn around, dinner is ready and they get dragged through a long dark corridor bit corny, everything looks from the ceiling also looks like a pair of no-Century refurbishment near you had a good
can not expect anything right?, then they smell a delicious smell of roast chicken. This was Joyce not used for ear mally she had always its own food preparation, and that food had to buy them from the money she earned in stocking shelves, she asked a teacher what this costs the teaching staff they that it was charged by the face (inwezen But this was of course subsidized by the municipality) Joyce was surprised and said really?? yes sure, now that's music to the ears. zecht suddenly someone who apparently was beside her all the time Are you new here.? yes I am arrived today, it's a pretty cool guy about 1.83 long long lean well muscled its just okay. what's your name, my name is Joyce I come Groningen. ok, here you have it a little fun here? It would have been easy to see Speech Debelle as a one hit wonder. Although her Mercury-winning debut album wasn?t exactly a hit ? it didn?t receive the sales hike normally associated with winners. Debelle was ? and is ? clearly talented, as this superb second album demonstrates. Her observant confessional lyrics remain, but here she expands her range to highly political meditations on the London riots and a possible global collapse. The production, as with her debut, is fantastically musical (if a little unsubtle), taking unusual turns throughout the record. As a whole it forms one of the finest hip hop albums since, well,?Speech Therapy.

Australia's apex predator could finally be officially blamed for an infamous child killing. Time to rethink conservation efforts
IN A few days, Elizabeth Morris, the coroner of Australia's Northern Territory, will open the fourth inquest into one of the country's most infamous incidents.
The hearing will seek to identify once and for all the cause of death of 9-week-old Azaria Chamberlain, who disappeared from her parents' tent at Uluru (Ayers Rock) in August 1980. Her body has never been found.
Her mother Lindy was convicted of murder in 1982 and jailed. Then in 1986 Azaria's jacket was found in a dingo's lair. Lindy was released and the evidence used against her was found to be spectacularly flawed.
Lindy's plight struck a chord around the world. Even Hollywood came calling. "My God, the dingoes took my baby" is an oft-repeated line from the resulting film A Cry in the Dark.
The Chamberlain family now hope to find some sort of resolution by securing an official finding that a dingo was responsible for Azaria's death.
But for an entire species the future is uncertain. What if it is judged to be a baby killer?
Right from the start everybody had an opinion on whether a dingo could have killed Azaria. Many were not prepared to believe it.
The fact that - with the exception of Aboriginal people - very few Australians had any experience of dingoes did not seem to matter. Even if they had wanted to read the relevant natural history of dingo behaviour it was sparse. The problem was that it was not just an ordinary animal and easily classified. At one level it is Canis lupus dingo, a subspecies of dog that arrived in Australia from Asia 3500 years ago as a domesticated animal that later reverted to living in wild packs.
Old books on dog breeds show other aliases: "Australian native dog", "Australian wild dog" and "warrigal". Names are significant and show that the dingo entered the lexicon of Australian nationhood.
It was considered native, wild, and associated with Aboriginal people as a domestic dog, perhaps as a guard dog or hunting dog. Its "true nature" is difficult, if not impossible, to pin down. Anthropologists would rightly say such an animal is dangerously ambiguous. The truth is that the dingo has never been exclusively wild or domesticated, and this is where the danger lies.
In a skilful reading of the way the dingo has entered Aboriginal stories and mythology, Meryll Parker, whose PhD thesis was on the animal, shows how it appears in myths as a fitting metaphor for humans, capable of love, affection, good parenting, loyalty and cooperation. However Parker also points out the existence of "warning myths". Aboriginal people knew about another side to the dingo: that like them it faced adverse conditions and would take food wherever it could.
Repeatedly, Parker found Aboriginal stories and recorded conversations emphasising how the young and the frail should not wander off alone or be allowed to fall behind moving groups, how babies must be carefully looked after in camps, and how the dingo had a reputation for sneaking in behind their wind shelters.
By contrast, most white Australians who expressed an opinion had never been near a dingo. What counted to them was the animal's brutal experience with authorities in their country. Precisely because it had been mercilessly hunted and widely eradicated by the livestock industry, it appeared rather like the heroic figure of the outlaw, or bushranger, resisting authority. Many Australians are distrustful of powerful interest groups and not easily persuaded to exercise muscle over the powerless.
They would know that dingoes probably do steal sheep but since dingoes had gained the status of native animals, they had a just claim to stay. This made Australians reluctant to see the animal persecuted any further.
If the Chamberlain case is decided against the dingo it will be events on Fraser Island in Queensland that clinch it. Here was an island population of dingoes which experts claimed were the least contaminated of their kind by cross-breeding with domestic dogs. As such they became the stars of a major eco-tourist venture, with the island attracting up to 500,000 visitors a year in recent decades. In order to emphasise its unique and pristine nature, the dingo's wildness and nativeness was overemphasised, with its nature carefully crafted in brochures and advertising.
It was never shown in packs, and typically in the distance. And as the anthropologist Adrian Peace wrote, "it appeared isolated and a threat to no one - and so all the more a candidate for conservation".
Yet after a multitude of reports of biting, including one in which a 14-month-old child was dragged into the bush, and another in which a pack attacked an elderly German woman sunbathing, the conservation discourse quickly shifted to consider culling. It is telling that these incidents were blamed on "unnatural" behaviour. Then in April 2001, 9-year-old Clinton Gage was attacked and quickly killed by two dingoes on the island.
If the conservation movement insists on unrealistic conceptions of the dingo, as happened with Fraser Island, then the future of the species in Australia does not look good. Attacks may continue, with culling of problem animals the inevitable result.
However, if it is finally accepted that a dingo killed Azaria, and that dingoes naturally have a complex repertoire of behaviours that include symbiotic and predatory associations with humans, then it can be assigned its place on the landscape as a dangerous animal and conserved as such animals are everywhere, with its separation from people given due weight.
Adrian Franklin is an anthropologist at the University of Tasmania, Australia, specialising in human-animal relations. His books include Nature and Social Theory (Sage Publications, 2001) and Animal Nation: The true story of animals in Australia (UNSW Press, 2006)

Although golf is a relatively low intensity game, a golfer still needs to maintain his or her stamina for 5 to 6 hours ? and sometimes even for an entire day of play. To replenish the vital fluids and nutrients that are lost during a strenuous game of golf, water isn?t always sufficient. That?s why a popular nutritional golf aid comes in the form of a golf drink.
?
A properly formulated golf drink is a blend of water, carbohydrates, and supplements. This formula provides golfers with an adequate supply of carbohydrates to fuel their working muscles. A golf aid drink can also improve absorption of fluids, replenish nutrients, and reduce muscle soreness and fatigue. There are many golf drinks from which to choose. The vital question is, which one of the many can truly help you maintain top golf performance at all times.
1. ?Sugars:? Not all sugars are created equal. Studies show that glucose and sucrose provide good body fuel, while fructose has been found to commonly cause bloating and stomachache.
2. ?Calorie content:? In the same manner, look at the amount of carbohydrates or calories included in the drink. A small amount of carbohydrates, about 5% -to 8%, is all your muscles need to function properly. A golf aid with higher carbohydrate content can actually cause your body to become sluggish.
3. ?Sodium:? Sodium helps metabolize carbohydrates and helps with rapid rehydration. Since golfers don?t typically sweat as much as basketball or football players, they require lower levels of sodium than what is generally found in non-golf specific sports drinks.
4.
?Nutritional content:? Some golf drinks contain vitamins and minerals aimed at increasing stamina and strength only. If you are looking for a sports drink that also improves your visual and mental acuity, balance, and flexibility, you may want to try GolferAID. Unlike other golf drinks on the market, this one is made from all natural ingredients and supplements like bilberry, gotu kola, turmeric, and Siberian ginseng. It contains, in total, 35 supplements that support and enhance total mind and body function for superior golf performance.ben bernanke anwar al awlaki amanda knox apple press conference apple press conference apple event apple event
Thirty thousand years after their burial on the Siberian tundra, immature fruits have been cultivated into small, weedy plants ? the oldest successful regeneration of a living plant from ancient tissue.
The plants, Silene stenophylla, grew and produced lacy white flowers. When fertilized, the ancient plants fruited and produced viable seeds of their own.
"This is very exciting," said Jane Shen-Miller, a University of California, Los Angeles biologist who was not involved in the study. "These tissues are viable after, say, 30,000 years. That is very, very interesting."
Shen-Miller led an earlier project that germinated and grew a 1,300-year-old lotus seed from northern China. Another group of researchers germinated a 2,000-year-old palm date seed from Israel in 2005, the oldest germinating seed known to date.
In the current study, published online Monday (Feb. 20) in the journal Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences, researchers from the Russian Academy of Sciences did not germinate the seeds directly, but took immature fruit tissue and cultured it in a nutrient-rich goop. The cells in this fruit tissue have the ability to transform into all parts of the plant, and they did, growing into seedlings that the researchers then transplanted into regular soil.
The fruit tissue came from animal burrows frozen in permafrost by the Kolyma River in northeastern Siberia. Small creatures, such as an Arctic species of ground squirrel, once stored away tens of thousands of seeds and fruits in these burrows, where they remained in a deep freeze. The newly revived fruit tissue has been radiocarbon dated to between 28,000 and 32,000 years old. (This method dates material based on the decay rate of its radioactive carbon.) [ Album: Life in the Arctic ]
"This is a plant that has a lot of built-in mechanisms for survival in a harsh environment," Shen-Miller told LiveScience. Most plant seeds die within a few years, she said. But a few hearty species, including the 1,300-year-old lotus and S. stenophylla have built-in mechanisms that either preserve or repair the plants' DNA.?
These species' amazing longevity makes them a good place to look for clues about how humans might be able to beef up our own DNA repair, perhaps preventing cancer, Shen-Miller said. Their genetics might also be useful if replicated in modern crops, since stored seeds quickly lose their nutrients and ability to grow.
"It's unique to find plants that have this potential. ? To identify a few of these plants is really good," Shen-Miller said. "They have the DNA resources for us to study."

STEVENS PASS, Wash. (AP) ? When disaster struck, a group of expert skiers who survived a large weekend avalanche in an out-of-bounds area near a Washington state ski resort turned on their emergency beacons and began looking for signs of life.
Powder Magazine senior editor John Stifter, who witnessed the slide that killed three of his skiing companions Sunday, said one person made it through by bear-hugging a tree and holding on as the snow barreled over him. Another skier who was caught in the slide was saved when she deployed an airbag, designed to keep her afloat.
"It's an absolute horror story," Stifter said Monday.
Experts say once an avalanche has you in its grips, the chances of surviving are slim.
"The snow doesn't really care how experienced you are, it's not keeping track of experience level," said Mark Moore, an avalanche meteorologist and director of the Northwest Weather and Avalanche Center, whose forecasts are must-reads for backcountry enthusiasts. "Once you're in an avalanche, it has you at its mercy."
The skiers were equipped with safety devices and kept track of each other as they strayed beyond the boundaries of the popular Stevens Pass Ski resort, about 90 miles northeast of Seattle. But the precautions still didn't save some from getting trapped, highlighting the risks of backcountry activity during a season of heightened avalanche dangers in the West.
Stifter, who skied with the group, identified the victims as Jim Jack, head judge for the Freeskiing World Tour; Stevens Pass marketing director Chris Rudolph; and Johnny Brenan, a Leavenworth contractor.
Sunday's avalanche was relatively large, said Moore. The Northwest Weather and Avalanche Center rated Sunday's avalanche danger as considerable to high. Heavy snow had fallen in the Cascades on Saturday with widespread avalanches and strong winds, all red flags, Moore said.
"Most of our avalanches here are storm-related, so we get most of our avalanche activity during or immediately after a storm," Moore said. "It's very sad to have accidents like this happen. No matter how good the snow is, you still have to be objective about risk," he said.
Statistics show that 93 percent of avalanche victims can be recovered alive if dug out within 15 minutes, but the numbers drop fast, according to the Utah Avalanche Center. After 45 minutes, only 20 to 30 percent of victims are alive. After two hours, few survive. People die because their carbon dioxide builds up in the snow around their mouth and they quickly die from carbon dioxide poisoning.
The Tunnel Creek canyon ? where a snowboarder died in an avalanche last year ? is not managed by the neighboring ski resort, so no avalanche control work such as bombing to release slides is not done. The lift from the ski resorts takes adventurers to that out-of-bounds area, often called sidecountry.
Stifter said he and Jack skied in the resort until about 11:15 a.m. Sunday when they met up with Rudolph. Stifter was in Washington state on an assignment, but this "was just a fun run with friends."
He said he read the avalanche report that morning, and knew avalanche dangers were considerable. He said and others talked about it and determined they could ski it safely. Jack and Rudolph had both skied the area countless times, he said.
Three of the 15 peeled off and went a different direction. Twelve others headed down, pairing up and skiing one by one, leapfrogging each other.
Each carried shovels and avalanche probes and wore avalanche beacons, a standard rescue device that allows rescuers to locate the signal of a victim if buried. The transceiver worn by the victim sends out a frequency that others can use to locate that signal.
He says once the avalanche swept one of the skiers, Jim Jack, down the mountain, he and four others who were still above it turned on their beacons and began searching for signals from their companions.
"We immediately pulled out our transceivers, designated a leader and spaced out 30 feet, zig-zagging all the way down," Stifter said. "We realized it was a massive funnel. It just flushed all the way down. We didn't get a signal until 3,000 feet down."
His beacon read: 2.1, which meant someone was buried at least six feet deep. Stifter and others immediately began digging in one area. They found Rudolph face down. Stifter performed CPR for about 30 minutes to no avail. Another group worked on digging out Brenan and Jack.
Professional skier Elyse Saugstad, who deployed an airbag, told NBC's "Today Show" she's convinced the airbag she deployed immediately ? which carried in a backpack and deployed by a lever on the skier's chest ? saved her life.
"It's lifting you kind of up above the avalanche," Saugstad said Monday. "It's not like you're taking an inner tube ride down some snowy field ... It feels like you're in a washing machine."
Only Saugstad had an airbag, said Stifter. Airbags range from about $600 to $1,000. They have been widely used in Europe with reports of high survival rates, but they have become popular in the U.S. only recently.
An avalanche beacon, shovel and probe are among the mandatory rescue items for those heading into the backcountry, but the best way is to avoid avalanches entirely, experts say.
"There are all of these technological things that will help us, but they're not a talisman that you can wave at the snowpack. You can't wave your beacon or your airbag at the snowpack. It's not going to make you safe. It's going to help you when get in trouble. You take the stuff with you, but you don't rely on them to extend your risk," Moore said.
Experts have said the risk of additional slides in the region could remain high all season, and they attribute the dangers in part to a weak base layer of snow caused by a dry winter.
Meanwhile, increasing numbers of skiers, snowboarders, snowmobilers and snowshoers are heading into the backcountry, lured by the promise of fresh power, solitude away from crowds and better turns.
"People need to look at the avalanche forecast. When it's considerable or above, if you don't know what you're doing, don't go," said Benj Wadsworth, executive director of the Friends of the Northwest Weather and Avalanche Center, a non-profit that works with the center to promote avalanche education and safety. "If you do go, make sure you take a class. To go out there without some level of avalanche education, I think it's crazy."

?And that?s what makes this a great game, is the support and the commitment that the fans give the game.?
?Nolan Ryan, Sagittarius Juno in the 9th house
Juno is most commonly known as the marriage asteroid and in myth the feminine counterpart to Zeus (Jupiter). Taken at its simplest, however, it is the mark of commitment in general. While we are most familiar with the role commitment takes in relationships, commitment is also touted as the determining factor for success in most areas of life.
In assessing your own Juno placement it is important to note not only the sign but also its house position. Juno?s sign will color the type of energy one?s commitment embodies as well as what sort of things one will deem commitment worthy. Juno?s house position represents the area of focus where one is likely to commit. Nolan Ryan serves as a very famous example of a Sagittarian, 9th house Juno. Sports and therefore baseball are Sagittarian (9th house) pursuits. With his Juno conjunct Venus his investment in the game of baseball made him a household name long beyond his actual career.
The aspects Juno makes to other planets and to the angles will flavor that commitment as well as bringing the energy of commitment to the functions of those placements. For example, an individual with Juno conjunct Venus may value constancy. Juno conjunct Mars makes for the kind of person that really ?brings it? when they commit to action, because they are ?all in.?
Where is your Juno and to what are you committed?

The road to a fit and healthy body might seem daunting when you consider beginning an exercise plan after not exercising for many years. The logic of this statement can?t be denied when you take into account how you are living your life at present. Your lifestyle has been devoid of any kind of exercise routine for a long time and this was your choice. If your fitness level is at rock bottom, you may find the prospect of all the hard work to become physically fit daunting. Therefore, you will have not only psychological obstacles to overcome, but physical ones as well. Moreover, it will be worth it in the long run if you can simply begin a good fitness program and stick with it. You are the one who is accountable to your health and life?s quality for taking the steps needed to become fit.
However, if it has been a while since you worked out, use your head and start slow and easy. A lot of people haven?t worked out, or done anything physical, for years. Some people have been sedentary since they left school! The best place to start is by getting cleared by your doctor, especially if you are beyond the mid-thirties. If you have any health issues, such as a previous injury or surgery, or a health condition, you have to take this into account. Once you have the go-ahead, then go slow, and always begin your workouts with stretching. After that, if you are doing any type of cardio workouts, just exercise enough to elevate your heart rate. All those who perform at high levels of physical activity have learned to listen to their body. You can simply listen to what your body is telling you to know what to do. It?s not hard to do. Just turn your focus inwards and listen to what your body is telling you. And you will be the one who benefits. By becoming aware, you can sidestep a potential injury with ease. Then, you must listen to your body and take appropriate action. You will know when to stop and avoid the mistake of trying to be ?strong? and proceed, when you are experiencing pain and should stop. When your body gives you feedback, listen! You will know whether you should stop or change what your are doing.
Becoming limber is the key to preventing injury, regardless of the type of exercise routine you choose. Stretch out your legs also. One good way to do this is to walk briskly for 15 minutes and then do some standard leg stretches. There are quite a few different ways to warm-up your legs and stretch muscles, tendons, and ligaments. Despite the fact that you may consider yourself fit, when you are first starting you need to take it slow and easy. Your hamstring muscles can be stretched out by gently bending at the waist. Don?t worry if you cannot bend all the way down. It will come in time. Just don?t force yourself to go further than is comfortable without any pain. Also, never bounce when you are stretching any part of your body.
Getting the right kind of fitness information, and taking time to learn it, is important for many reasons. Being up-to-date on the latest facts about being fit will be invaluable and can make all the difference in the world to how well your fitness regimen proceeds. The advantages of educating yourself about fitness will soon become apparent as you begin your program.
A good warm-up with stretching is vital to help prevent injuries in your fitness program. Not only that, but it is highly advised to cool down after you finish you workout. If you try to take shortcuts, you leave yourself liable to injury. If you do bodybuilding or weight lifting it is even more important that you stretch your muscles before you begin. It?s no secret that lifting weights shortens your muscles. So take the time to do the things that keep your body in the best possible health.
