Senior Communications Specialist ? Sigma-Aldrich Corporation ...

PURPOSE OF THE POSITION

To develop, manage and execute communication strategies, programs and processes that enhance employee engagement, promote the corporate culture and support the business strategic objectives to deliver exceptional results. This position will be responsible for internal communications, creating marketing materials, managing external communication activities and assisting in the strategy and implementation of our investor relations communications.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

Work with the Director of Global Marketing Communications to assist in the coordination of global media and public relations activities.
? Coordinate critical company communications to ensure information is released in a timely manner to all stakeholders.
? Write and edit materials for communicating with media, employees and other key audiences regarding news, issues management and corporate strategy and brand.
? Manage, write and edit employee communications for a variety of media including newsletter articles, business journal advertising, news updates, video scripts, speeches, company collateral material and other communications.
? Responsible for developing the outline and coordinating the Annual Report; assisting with Sustainability Report.
? Assist with Corporate Brand Management / Crisis Communications planning.
? Periodically measure the value of communication delivery methods to ensure that processes are effective and cost efficient.
? Manage relationships with communication vendors as needed.
? Assist Director in partnering with business leaders to coordinate, streamline and enhance communication with all employees.
? Develop innovative, strategic and creative solutions to communication challenges to ensure key messages are effectively shared with all internal audiences.
? Supervise Communications Specialist
? Partner and coordinate with Senior Management team to develop outline / presentation for Analyst Meetings and special Board meetings as needed.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

Education: Bachelor?s degree in Communications, Journalism or related field. Masters or MBA a plus.

Experience: Minimum 8+ years experience in a Marketing/Communications/PR role including experience in the following areas:
? Marketing Communications
? Investor Relations
? External Communications
? Internal Communications
Experience in strategy and change management communications a plus.

Essential and Critical Skills:
? Excellent writer and editor, with experience of online writing and social media; a background of corporate writing and a proven ability to write in different registers
? Demonstrated track record of success in crafting executive level communications, including presentations and press releases
? Knowledge of new/emerging technologies and how best to use them
? Strong proofreading skills with a drive for accuracy and attention to detail
? Strong interpersonal and communication skills with ability to influence by adopting a range of styles, tools and techniques appropriate to the audience and nature of information.
? Ability to build and maintain effective working relationships with a range of people at all levels of the organization
? Experience with, and sensitivity to, communicating with a multicultural workforce.
? Good reasoning and sound decision making abilities.
? Resourceful and well organized
? Must deliver solid results under pressure
? Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite; Lotus Notes knowledge a plus
? Excellent project management skills

ADDITIONAL LOCAL NEEDS:

Ability to travel within the United States and internationally a plus (minimum <10%).
