Over 100,000 new cases of colon cancer will be diagnosed in the United States this year and 50,000 people will die from the disease.

But colon cancer is preventable, treatable and beatable. Dr. Thomas Weber, founder of ?Colon Cancer Challenge Foundation? was here to tell us how colon cancer survivor Briel Zagarow got through her ordeal.

The Colon Cancer Challenge is the tri-state?s premier colorectal cancer awareness running race through Central Park. It?s designed to raise support and funds for colon cancer research and increased awareness.

  • 2013 Colon Cancer Challenge is scheduled for Sunday, April 7 at Central Park in NYC. More than 6,000 people participated last year.
  • There are three different walks or runs participants can choose from, including:
    • 1.7 mile remembrance and prevention walk
    • 4 mile walk/run
    • 15 kilometer walk/run
